Casual Play With Friends

The most common way to play is a casual game of Standard or Commander with a friend or a group of friends. All you need to play this way is at least one other friend, two decks for a specific format, and a table. If you're looking for a place to play a casual game of M:tG with a friend, we invite you to come with them to the library to play! If you're interested in organizing a group or a club to meet and play in the library at a specific time, please feel free to reach out to me and I will help you organize it!

Event Types:

Friday Night Magic (FNM) - These events are beginner-friendly and intended to introduce new players to organized play. All tournament sanctioned format and casual formats can be used and tournaments are run at Regular Rules Enforcement Level (REL) which is the least strict level of play.

Saturday Night Modern - Just like FNM, but held on Saturday and the format is Modern.

Sunday Pioneer - Just like FNM, but held on Sunday and the format is Pioneer.

Commander Tournaments - Tournaments held for Commander format.

Drafts - There are many different styles of drafts, but they are all essentially organized play where each person participating gets a pool of cards, usually in a number of sealed booster packs, which they then use to build their deck and play against other players using decks made the same way. Popular versions include Cube draft and booster draft.

Pre-release - These events are held before the release of a new set so players can buy pre-release sets and play with some of the new cards.

Competitive and Professional Tournaments - You can find more information about these here.
