InterLibrary Loan (ILL)

InterLibrary Loan (ILL) is another way to get your book or article if our library does not have it. We can help you find it at another library and have that library send it to us. If you request:

  • Books: We will loan it to you for a time determined by the lending library.

  • Articles: We will usually send a digital copy of the article to you via your email.

NOTE: most libraries will not loan textbooks, CDs, DVDs, or videotapes.

FAQs about InterLibrary Loans

SPSCC students, faculty, or staff.

Community members may request interlibrary loans through their public library:

Yes, it's free as long as you return the ILL item before it is overdue and in the same condition as when you received it. You will be responsible for paying any overdue/lost fines if you return an item late or damaged, or if you don't return it at all. Any fines may keep you from getting your transcripts, grades, or diploma.

It depends on how easy it is to find the book/article from other libraries. In general:

  • Books: Can take up to two weeks.

  • Articles: Can take up to four business days.

That depends on the lending library. To request a renewal for your ILL book, contact Scott Stilson or call 360-596-5426.
