Make Citations

When doing research and writing up your papers, we need to build our evidence and give credit to where our information comes from. Most assignments require this, plus it helps you and your readers find your sources again.

Most library tools, like databases, include features that generate a citation in the most popular citation styles. These automatic citations can include minor stylistic errors, but they typically do a good job of pulling out the key information you need to make a citation. Double-check all your citations, especially those that are auto-generated.

Permalinks

permalink icon, two interlocking chain linksThe library assignment asks you to post links and citations to two articles on your topic from library databases in a Canvas discussion. In the database Academic Search Complete (Ebsco), you must choose the Permalink icon to the right of the article you select. If you copy and paste the URL at the top of the page, I won't be able to get back to the article you chose.

In the ProQuest Research Library database, look for the permanent link at the end of the citation. The link that will get me back to your article starts with https://ezproxy...

Tips

Most library tools, like Quick Search and our databases, can create citations that you can copy and paste into your papers.

These tools are auto-generated, so check them for accuracy. Additionally, they don't always have the latest versions of the citation styles.
